I lead technology – hands still on the code.

I am Head of Technology & Architecture at Mediengruppe Deutscher Apotheker Verlag. Since August 2026 I have been responsible for the technical direction of the department: the architecture of the system landscape, the cloud infrastructure, and leading the teams and external service providers who work on it.

I come from development and never left it. I have been building software since 2010. PHP, Laravel and the LAMP stack have been with me from the start; Go, Node and React and Vue frontends came later. That shapes how I lead: I can estimate effort, review architecture proposals on their merits and tell whether a proposal delivers what it promises.

I have not only designed cloud and operations, I have run them: infrastructure as code (CDK/Terraform), ECS Fargate with autoscaling, queues and schedulers, CI/CD pipelines, observability and zero-downtime deploys. To me, cost control belongs in the architecture, not in the post-mortem. The same goes for GDPR-compliant architectures that keep data in the EU.

I am a Certified IT Business Consultant (IHK, Geprüfter IT-Berater) and triple AWS-certified (Associate level). I take AI to production: RAG systems and LLM integration, including on AWS Bedrock. My aim is the step from proof of concept to a running system, with cost control.

I lead through trust and transparency: everyone should know where they stand and why something was decided. I gather input visibly and then decide clearly and take responsibility. Evidence beats claims. That applies to architecture proposals, to service providers and to me.

On the side I write this blog and maintain open-source packages, mostly in PHP. The largest is agenticorchestrator, a multi-tenant agent orchestration layer for Laravel. If you would like to exchange ideas, I am happy to hear from you.
